What ever the season Dartmoor has something to offer the landscape photographer. As a local photographer to Dartmoor I can confirm that the view of many photographers in this region - that the best Dartmoor prints are produced in black and white is true. Rarely do we have the lighting conditions that allow for colour prints of Dartmoor to stand out from the mundane.
Printing in monochrome then sepia toning allows for more creative and believable manipulation to be carried out on the prints, enhancing the texture form and mood of the picture.
Sepia toning prints can be done for many reasons. In the digital era those reasons are now all purely aesthetic. Some Dartmoor prints look better when they are a little warmer, the tones often compliment the image and fit better with the decor of your room.
