Bn-Images brings to you a collection of black and white and colour> photography from landscape photographer Brian Northmore. The aim of this site is to provide a place where everyone with an interest in photography can view his work, including home owners wishing to browse the> black and white landscape gallery for a print to hang on the wall, photographers visiting the bookshop for photography books, or picture editors looking to purchase digital images. The site is under constant development and review there are plans to extend both the black and white photography and colour photography gallery – this is now made easier with the new gallery and shop. The photography bookshop will evolve, as new books are released and photographic talent is discovered. If you have come across any title or photographers that you think should be featured then please contact me. It is planned to extend the range of featured products beyond books and begin promoting cameras and photography equipment.

Brian Northmore began taking photographs around 20 years ago, and as with most enthusiast photographers these initial steps were un-cooridinated and the subject matter randomly selected to include colour photographs of landscapes, aircraft, sport and action. Photography quickly became a passion and overtime developed to concentrate mainly on the landscape and monochrome photography. The pivotal point for this change was a visit to the lake district national park and then setting up a darkroom, the monochrome gallery is now a favourite part of this website. The main types of photography now being concentrated on are:

  • Black and White Photography
  • Colour Photography Gallery
  • Fine Art Photography
  • Landscape Photography
  • Lake District Photography
  • Aviation Photography

In the beginning traditional photography media was used including colour transparencies and black and white film. Film was processed normally and monochrome prints were made in a traditional wet darkroom. The switch to digital photography was a gradual affair, which began with scanning film and producing prints on inkjet printers. In the pursuit of quality and archival permanence of the final printed image the process has now flipped on its head. All of the images are produced using a digital camera but printed on traditional photographic paper.

All of the images can be considerd to be fine art photographs. Art and photography has been debated since it's invention. The work images created by Brian are primarily fine art photographs. His belief being that it's the person who creates art not the medium that is important. His defintion of fine art photography is:

The creation of images captured by photographic means that have no other purpose other than to satisfy the creative vision of the photographer. The purpose of the photograph being the photograph itself.

Images which do not fit into the traditional categories og Black and white or colour have been placed direcetly into the Photo Art gallery.
